A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a tax-efficient way for those 70 ½ or older to donate from their IRA, while also counting towards your annual Required Minimum Distribution. To donate through a qualified charitable distribution, you can begin the process by contacting your financial institution to complete the required forms. You will need to provide the following information:
Tax ID Number (EIN): #26-0322088
Bequests are gifts made through your will or living trust. Wills can be drafted with the consultation of a legal professional.
The wording within your will or trust you may want to consider is:
I give the sum of ______________________Dollars ($0.00) to The Independence Fund EIN 26-0322088 of Charlotte, North Carolina to be used by The Independence Fund where most needed.
You can also list a specific amount of money to gift in your estate, however if market conditions rise or fall affecting the corpus of your estate, it may make some of your intentions more difficult to execute. Again, we recommend discussing this with a professional to advise you what is best for your specific situation and needs.
Other options to include The Independence Fund in your estate plan are as a beneficiary of your insurance policy or retirement account. This is easily done through the manager of the account.
