Caregiver Program

What is the Caregiver Program?

The Independence Fund is proud to serve Caregivers of all eras. By providing small group retreats, the Caregivers to our nation’s heroes are given a break from the stressful 24/7 role of military caregiving through time for peer-to-peer support, respite, as well as restorative and pampering services.

Our typical demographic is comprised of young wives who are caring for husbands with life-altering battle wounds that decades earlier would have resulted in death, but we are also excited to care for other populations among the heroic Caregiver community. In 2015, The Independence Fund hosted the first ever national retreat for male Caregivers; fathers, husbands, and brothers of our nation’s wounded. In 2016 and 2017, The Independence Fund hosted nine Caregiver retreats across the nation, and we have continued to offer respite, support, and services to those caregiving for our nation's heroes.
