OpRes Video - Nick Palmisciano

“You could put the number of servicemembers that we lost in combat in the end zone of a football field, but you could fill the entire stadium with the number of servicemembers for that same period of time that we’ve lost to suicide.”

– Nick Palmisciano, Veteran and NYT Bestselling Author

Nick spoke at The Independence Fund's recent Operation Resilience (OpRes) retreat for the Veterans of Bravo Company 2-508. His words illustrate the reality of the battle against Veteran suicide and the importance of taking action.

When Veterans who deployed and experienced heavy combat return home and transition to civilian life, they often say it is the feeling of isolation and lack of purpose that haunts them the most.

Many of the Veterans who participate in the program are battling the invisible wounds of war alone and often face a new enemy: Veteran suicide.

The Independence Fund covers the total cost of every Veteran to attend an OpRes to ensure they can begin healing without any financial worries.

Your Support Matters

The OpRes program was started in 2019 by The Independence Fund’s CEO, Sarah Verardo, to put an end to Veteran suicide.

Thanks to generous sponsors, and incredible donors, the program has been successful in its mission.

Now, more Veterans will reunite through OpRes in November 2024. Donate today and sponsor a Veteran looking for connection and healing.
