Advancing the Health and Independence of Veterans, Caregivers, and Families

The Independence Fund offers multiple programs to support catastrophically wounded Veterans as well as their Caregivers and families as they navigate post-military life. These programs cover a range of services, including casework, Veteran advocacy, mental health programs, Caregiver support, as well as helping Veterans regain mobility and obtain basic resources.
Our programs include:

Advocacy

By advocating for severely wounded Veterans with various government groups, we work to ensure Veterans’ needs are properly understood and provided for by these institutions.

Allies

The Independence Fund aids Afghan combat interpreters resettling in the U.S. through financial stipends and providing resources for interpreters, partner organizations, and healthcare.

Caregivers & Families

Through retreats and virtual events, Caregivers and families of wounded Veterans access critical resources and connect with other Veteran families for support.

Casework

We provide aid to Veterans and Caregivers as they navigate the hurdles to obtaining their post-military benefits, VA resources, medical eligibility, as well as Caregiver assistance.

Feeding Independence

We provide essential resources like groceries and household essentials to ensure Veterans and their families have the support necessary to thrive.

Mobility

We provide all-terrain trackchairs and mobility devices for injured Veterans to restore their mobility, independence, and help them enjoy their favorite activities and spending time outdoors.

Operation Resilience

To protect and enhance Veterans’ mental health, we reunite military units on retreats to heal from trauma, connect with peers, and rebuild camaraderie with fellow servicemembers.

TIF Tactical

To help injured or ill Veterans heal through nature, we facilitate their participation in hunting, fishing, and shooting sports to enhance their sense of autonomy and mental well-being.

Veterans Justice Initiative (VJI)

To assist Veterans in the criminal justice system, we’ve established Veterans Treatment Courts and trained first responders to understand Veterans’ needs and focus on their rehabilitation.
