“We tend to feel very guilty about taking a bubble bath, reading a book or doing anything by ourselves for us. You have to take time for yourself, and this is the perfect environment.”
-Caregiver of a Veteran, Isamarie McIntyre
This October, The Independence Fund is hosting Caregivers of wounded Veterans for a weekend retreat of respite and relaxation. Each of these Caregivers has lovingly dedicated their lives to caring for a Veteran in their life. Some are caring for their child, their spouse, or a family member who sacrificed so much in the name of freedom.
Veteran Caregivers are truly the “unseen heroes behind the heroes” and make many of their own sacrifices to care for others. Often caring for their Veteran and additional family members, they may have little time left for themselves, personal growth, or rest.
The Independence Fund’s Caregiver and Family program, with the help of generous donors, provides support through various therapies and retreats using a holistic approach.
The Independence Fund covers the full cost of each retreat – leaving none of the logistical or financial responsibility on the shoulders of these Caregivers.
Please make a difference in the life of a Caregiver by visiting The Independence Fund’s website to learn more and donate in their honor.
